In this 9-week course, apprehensive writers will discover how to break down assignments into manageable steps effectively. This invaluable skill extends beyond the realm of writing, serving as a crucial tool in various aspects of life. Guidance is provided at every stage, and although the class topics remain consistent, learners are empowered to select subjects that resonate with them personally. The emphasis is on writing about matters of significance, facilitating a more enjoyable learning process. By the course's conclusion, students will realize their ability to write, transforming the once-dreaded task into a more enjoyable experience! Week 1: The Writing Process - Brainstorm, Outline, Rough Draft, Editing, Feedback, Final Copy Week 2: Anatomy of a Sentence, Paragraph, and Essay using "hamburger stacking." Week 3: Vivid Vocabulary, Painting a word picture, Showing vs. Telling Week 4: Editing and Feedback - Why is it important? How do we accept and deliver feedback? What do I look for when editing? Week 5: Poetry - Rhyming Schemes, Limerick, Haiku, Acrostic Week 6: What is expository writing? How do I write an expository essay? Week 7: What is persuasive writing? How do I write a persuasive essay? Week 8: What is narrative writing? How do I write a narrative essay? Week 9: Share your favorite pieces! $315 for 9 classes 1x per week = 9 weeks total 60 minutes
